Water Footprint (ISO 14046)

Water footprinting and reporting is one of the key processes that enables companies to understand their water use, develop water saving strategies and align with global sustainability goals.

Water footprint refers to the amount of freshwater consumed directly and indirectly by an individual, organisation or product.

At Greenlife Consulting, we calculate and report water footprints based on internationally recognised standards such as the ISO 14046 standard and the Water Footprint (WFN) methodology.

1. Current Situation Analysis

In the first stage, the activities of the enterprise, supply chain processes and water use are analysed in detail. The processes from which water consumption arises are identified and organisational and operational limits are determined in accordance with ISO 14046:2014 standard.

2. Data Collection

With the data request templates we have prepared as Greenlife Consulting, the data required for the calculation is requested from the institution. Greenlife team provides all necessary support for the supply and transfer of data to the data request template.

3. Calculation of Water Footprint

After the data is collected, our Expert Team completes the calculations in accordance with ISO 14046:2014 Water Footprint Standard. Water consumption is categorised as blue water (surface and groundwater), green water (soil moisture and rainwater) and grey water (amount of contaminated water). This process helps organisations to steer their sustainability strategies by making their water consumption measurable and traceable.

4. Reporting

After the completion of the water footprint calculations, our Expert Team carries out the reporting work in accordance with ISO 14046: 2014 Water Footprint Standard.

5. Verification

Calculations can be verified by independent third parties at the company's discretion. Throughout the process, we, as the Greenlife team, are always at your side in order to eliminate possible deficiencies and provide support.

What are the Advantages of Water Footprint Calculation?

It helps to understand the distribution of water use in different areas by providing a clear picture of direct and indirect water use.

By helping to identify and reduce the impact of water use on nature, it provides solutions to prevent water overuse and pollution.

By enabling more efficient and sustainable management of water resources, it supports the development of preventive strategies for regions at risk of water scarcity.

After assessing your current situation by calculating your water footprint, we will guide your organisation to implement the most advanced water management solutions by creating a roadmap that includes water saving and reuse opportunities specific to your organisation, according to your requirements. We base this roadmap on the Best Available Techniques Reference Documents (BREFs) produced under the European Union's Industrial Emissions Directive. We use the Best Available Techniques (BAT) in these documents to determine the most appropriate water conservation and recovery strategies for your industry. For detailed information, you can review the contents of the Water Efficiency Management System (ISO 46001).

As Greenlife Consulting, we offer comprehensive solutions for companies' water footprint calculation, reporting and water reduction strategies. With our methodology based on the TS EN ISO 14046 standard, we can help your company take strong and reliable steps on its sustainability journey.
