EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) Harmonisation Study

The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is a regulation designed to prevent global deforestation and ensure that products entering the EU market meet environmental sustainability criteria. As part of this regulation, it has become mandatory to prove that products based on agriculture and forestry do not cause deforestation in their supply chains.

EUDR requires traceability and transparency along the supply chain, starting with agricultural production processes. Companies that produce, import or supply these products, particularly certain products such as coffee, cocoa, palm oil, beef, rubber, soy and timber, are required to meet sustainability standards.

Managing this process requires detailed data collection along the supply chain, source verification using geographic information systems (GIS) and compliance with sustainability certifications. At the same time, companies supplying products at risk of deforestation are expected to fully comply with EU legislation by carrying out conformity assessments and risk analyses.

1. Supply Chain Traceability and Risk Assessment

  • Collecting and analysing supply chain data
  • Assessment of the impact of deforestation on the areas where the products are produced
  • Identification of risky areas using geographical information systems (GIS)

2. Legal and Regulatory Compliance

  • Analysing the legal requirements under EUDR
  • Harmonisation of the company's existing policies with EU regulations
  • Establishment of supplier commitments and reporting required under EUDR

3. Improvement of Verification and Compliance Processes

  • Establishing sustainable supply chain strategies that combat deforestation
  • Adopting sustainable production methods in co-operation with suppliers
  • Managing certification and certification processes to support the harmonisation process

4. Reporting and Audit Process

  • Preparation of internal sustainability reports in accordance with EUDR requirements
  • Establishment of inspection processes for products to be placed on the EU market
  • Developing data management systems to increase supply chain transparency
